Hello everyone,

This month, Industrie Magazine has done us the honour of publishing an article and an interview about Pascon-SA.

This is an opportunity to take stock of Pascon-SA, which has been operating in the plastic film sector for 80 years. The company has successfully transformed its range of plastic films, but above all has been able to offer its customers certified and secure solutions for their end applications.

Recognised expertise in highly regulated sectors

What sets Pascon SA apart in the plastics distribution sector is the nature of the industries it serves. The medical, nuclear, marine, aerospace and luxury leather goods sectors: these are all fields where material compliance is non-negotiable. The PVC, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and polyolefin films distributed by the company meet strict standards, including ISO 10993 for medical biocompatibility, Euroclass fire-retardant certifications for the construction industry, and military standards for personal protective equipment in the nuclear sector.

In the medical sector, Pascon SA supplies films for collection bags, gloves, anti-bedsore mattresses, cleanrooms and prosthetics. In the nuclear sector, these materials are used for personal protective equipment, radioactive waste bags and decontamination systems. The events sector also accounts for a significant part of the business, with films for inflatable structures, cinema screens, marquees and banners. But also safety (life jackets, anti-pollution barriers), stationery (ring binders, diaries, folders), the automotive sector, childcare and public works.

This diversity demands flawless traceability. Each product is accompanied by technical data sheets and safety data sheets that comply with the European REACH regulations, guaranteeing the absence of harmful substances. In collaboration with national testing laboratories, Pascon SA also ensures compliance, upon request, with standards relating to food safety, potability and cytotoxicity.

The shift to bio-based materials: a practical response to the challenges of decarbonisation

The year 2025 marks a strategic turning point for Pascon SA, with the launch of ranges of ISCC PLUS-certified bio-based PVC films. The principle of bio-attribution is based on traceability through mass balance: a portion of the fossil-based raw materials used in the production chain is replaced by renewable resources, such as vegetable oils and biomass, without altering the technical properties of the final product. The result is a PVC film with a reduced carbon footprint, whilst retaining the same mechanical and processing characteristics as conventional films.

This transition responds to growing demand from manufacturers, who are constrained by increasingly stringent regulatory targets regarding the decarbonisation of packaging and materials. For Pascon SA, the challenge is twofold: to remain competitive in a changing market, whilst maintaining the technical standards that have built its reputation for over seven decades. ISCC PLUS certification guarantees supply chain transparency and compliance with international sustainability standards.
